Cave men weren’t obese. That’s the inspiration behind a new weight loss craze in America. Paleo-dieter Vlad Averbukh allows himself fruits, vegetables and meat — anything that can be eaten raw — but no dairy or grains, following an adapted version of the feeding habits humans followed during the Paleolithic era. Duration: 01:48

    . . .this is …
. . .this is because people on a vegan diet often do not get all the nutrients they need, specifically vitamin B12, without supplements, but an omnivore doesn’t have this problem.

    First of all, yes, …
First of all, yes, chimpanzees eat meat.

Secondly, can you please tell me where you heard that meat craving bacteria established themselves in our gut? I’ve never heard of that theory and would like to investigate. However, If that theory were true, wouldn’t a course of penicillin result in a vegetarian?

Also referring back to your original point, I don’t believe a vegan, let alone an all fruit diet, is more healthful then an omnivorous diet. My reason for thinking t

    I didn’t know you …
I didn’t know you were a tinfoiler, or I wouldn’t have ever bothered to reply. My misinformation comes directly from anthropological data accumulated over many university financed research field studies, not vegan and fruitarian propaganda sites.

    no termites and …
no termites and small animals compose 1% of the diet

greens and fruits have vastly more nutrition than any termites and meat from small mammals

the caloric intake from fruit is more than adequate

you are misinformed, probably from junk science financed and corrupted monsanto

    humans and chimps are primates

should we have a meat diet like lions who are our very distant relatives or should we have a fruit diet like our fellow primates? its not rocket science

    And just for the …
And just for the of it, I’ll go ahead and reiterate that we are NOT Chimpanzees, we are late stage members of a line of hominids that specifically adapted to carnivory. There is no ambiguity about that fact because we have sophisticated techniques (stable isotope analysis of bone) that inform us about our Paleolithic ancestors’ dietary habits.

  6. jsadberry

    5% of a …
5% of a Chimpanzee’s diet is composed *just* from termites, let alone other insects. Greens and most wild fruits have very low calorie/nutrition density while insects have among the highest in nature, making the total dietary impact of the insect consumption incredibly much more than 5%. You are severely misinformed about meat consumption. Males hunt meat year round, from all classes of small mammals.

    cooking changes the …
cooking changes the chemical structure of food and the fruit cells become dead which the body rejects as a foreign substance

  8. signboyy

    actually about 1% …
actually about 1% of the diet is meat and the other 99% of the diet is divided pretty evenly among green leafy vegetables and fruit

  9. signboyy

    this is done …
this is done because the animals are competing with the chimps for berries and nuts. eating their competitors results in more nuts and fruit for the chimps

although this does happen occasionally it is less than 1% of the chimps diet for the year

  10. signboyy

    because being …
because being primates we should only be eating fresh fruit

do you see chimpanzees eating raw meat?

the only reason we crave it is because the first time we ate meat , the bacteria which eats meat established themselves in our stomach. the bacteria release chemicals in our body causing us to crave meat so that the bacteria gets the meat it needs

but if you dont eat meat for a month that bacteria can be killed off and then your craving for meat will disappear…until you eat meat again

    … It is believed …
… It is believed that this peacefulness is partly because they live in areas where food in the form of fruit, shoots, and herbaceous vegetation is more abundant, which in itself leads to a more peaceful society, but also, since food is easier to find, there’s more time for female-to-female bonding, which allows thus empowered females to regulate the men to peaceful behavior.

    We may be more …
We may be more closely related to bonobos than we are to chimps (last I heard, we shared genes for empathy not present in chimps, amongst other ones), and these cousins are much less prone to aggression and hunting (actually helping and playing with smaller animals)…

    According to Jane …
According to Jane Goodall, they only squeeze out the meat juice, and in that form, animal products only constitute about 1% of their diet.

    why would that be …
why would that be more healthful?

    Our closest *living …
Our closest *living* primate relative, the chimpanzee, eats very significant animal source foods from hunting. Some groups do so prolifically. They get as, if not more, significant protein and fat from insect consumption. So if you eat only raw fruit, you’re going WAY lower on the chain than even the chimp. That being said, our closest living relative is not anywhere NEAR as close as our closest non-living relative: Neanderthal man, who was very nearly a pure carnivore.

    The so-called …
The so-called caveman diet isn’t about being slim, nor is it a “diet” in the sense of being a weight loss regimen. It’s a way of eating, and for many people also a way of being, which imparts the greatest health and vigor. Having a lean, muscular form is simply a wonderful byproduct of true inner health. Being slim is not a very laudable goal in itself.

    Wow, what’s with …
Wow, what’s with all the hate? Last I knew the USA was a free country where people are free to eat and spend what they choose. Note that the reporter said he spends UP TO $70/day–not $70 every day. More power to ya Vlad. Don’t let the haters get to you.

Oh, and despite your obvious love for cock-sucking, it’s not exactly what nutritionists mean when they say you should have “two to three servings of meat” per day, FATxDAN!

Hear the sizzle? That’s ’cause you just got burned, tubby! Boo yeah!
