What is the best tasting LIGHT chunky blue cheese salad dressing?
Ive heard alot about ken’s lite chunky blue cheese and maries lite chunky blue cheese, ive used light house lite in the past and thougt it was just ok. im looking for one thats rich and thick without being to "soupy" bitter or too sweet. I would apprecaite any suggestions, i hate wasting money on salad dressings! thanks!

Wishbone used to make a good one, very blue cheesey and thick. As I remember it wasn’t real low in calories, but the taste made up for it. As an alternative, you could try using your own oil and vinegar with some crumbled blue cheese in it. Mash the cheese a bit and stir until creamy.
Good luck!

The best way to get one that suits your own personal taste is — you guessed it — to make it yourself. Salad dressings are ridiculously easy and chances are you already have most of the ingredients you need in your kitchen.
A combination of buttermilk, sour cream and/or mayonnaise can be used to make a decent base. If you find it needs more acidity, add a dash of vinegar. Add a little bit of salt and black pepper (taste it to see how much). Add blue cheese (Stilton is my personal favorite), a little bit of sugar, a little garlic (freshly minced, or garlic powder: it’s your choice). I sometimes also add a dash or Worcestershire sauce for flavor. Make sure the cheese is crumbled well beforehand and add a little bit at a time. Blue cheese is strong stuff, so you don’t want to overdo it. It gets better if you let it have a night in the fridge for the flavors to mingle.
Good luck. If you figure out a recipe you like, you’ll never have to waste money on crappy dressings again.
