The way I tend to …
The way I tend to look at it is this: our genes are a result of the accumulation of hundreds of thousands of years of all kinds of eating, across a wide spectrum. The best thing we can eat is the one that was most common because that’s what natural selection would have favoured adaptation to. So it still makes sense for there to be cases of ancestors who ate sub-optimally – and the people you refer to could be such a case.

Just a question. …
Just a question. Native Americans had horticultural practices such as the Three Sisters where they planted corn, beans and squash together. How old could that practice have been (before agriculture dawned?) and could corn and beans have had an effect on their health/life expectancy? I think some Native Americans could live past their fifties.
You can eat corn raw and I’m sure someone in a survival situation would eat one too if they found one out in the wild.

No, soy is not allowed…

Excellent. …
Excellent. Especially the part about doctors not knowing a thing about nutrition and being more concerned with pushing drugs. Right on target!

Uhm. The chemicals …
Uhm. The chemicals they spray on crops are similar to the ones naturally found in paleolithic plants — natural pesticides that are toxic to humans. Those pesticides were bred out to make the crop edible in large amounts (amounts rec. by Paleo (TM)). Paleo man did not eat any semblance of a Paleo Diet (TM) unless forced to by lack of animals and/or insects and only during a short seasonal period.
Just eat meat.

I’m 17 and was just …
I’m 17 and was just considering going on Dr. Seigals cookie diet. But this sounds like a much better plan. After all, the only thing I ate today that actually made me nauseous was whole grain toast with butter. Uhg, now I’m motivated to give up that stuff. Hm. Is soy allowed? I’ve heard beans of any kind were not permitted on the Paleo diet. I love soy milk

I love this video! …
I love this video! I have been on the Primal Diet for a while now, and explaining the diet to people has definitely gotten old… Many people are remarkably resistant to logic and health =)

wade: yes, you can. …
wade: yes, you can. It will take a week or two of detox, because cereals (like all grains) contain opioids (similar to heroin) which are very addictive. But you can break the carb addiction and live a lot longer, if you can just last the week or two of detox.

Great video- if …
Great video- if only we could get more parents to make nutrition an important part of their lives our children will follow suit and our future generations will spend more time playing outside than in hospitals. Again great video.

well done with this …
well done with this…. slowly + surely the message will be repeated by people who care to the people who dont think enough to realize all of this for themselves. And Slowly and surely people will know the truth and avoid dairy + grain products.

Sorry Donny – was …
Sorry Donny – was the toxic grease reference that made me think you were joking
There are no rules about eating food raw with paleo. It’s more about what you eat rather than how it’s prepared. I do like a rare steak now and again – but that’s about it!

What meats do you eat raw ( if any)?

I think you are pulling my chain here, dude. But in case you are not, here’s my advice: coconut, yes, bread no. And for pity’s sake, don’t eat raw chicken. As for the toxic grease, that sounds like it would be better used on your car.

Is it ok to consume …
Is it ok to consume coconut/ coconut oil on the paleo diet? i slather locally produced 9 grain bread with it. i am willing to try it, i just dont like the idea of eating raw meat, but like i said, i’m willing to try it for a while to see if i can stick with it. Also, do you eat raw chicken legs/ wings? i’m used to fryin’ them bad boys up in a pot of toxic grease.

…. so “in a nutshell” we didn’t evolve to eat meat… we evolved BECAUSE we ate meat… its a very good blog based on hard scientific research. Its a blog by Michale R. Eades entitled “Are we meat eaters or vegetarians? Look it up.

I found a great …
I found a great article that tries to explain that humans brains got bigger when our GI tract got smaller… which occurred by us eating meat… so without meat we wouldn’t have evolved into humans…..The kidney, liver, heart, GI tract, and brain are the 5 main metabolic consumers of which is predetermined by size of creature. So for one part to evolve it would require a loss somewhere else…. primates have large stomachs and small brains…. while our brains grew when our stomach shrunk.

drinking fresh milk from a cow is good..but I heard its is genetically incorrect after it has been through all the machines at the factory…but I still drink milk either way.
November 7th, 2009 - 9:42 am
My broad advice …
My broad advice would be to avoid milk, sweetened drinks and coffee that has been highly processed so that it contains chemicals. Herbal teas can be a nice way to make water less boring.

no idea Milk was bad….knew about the other stuff tho…..what shud we be drinking just water?
November 7th, 2009 - 9:42 am
yeah if your …
yeah if your ancestry is northern Europe and the normandic areas you are good with milk. Your ability to digest lactos is an adaptive issue, your DNA is the same. The Paleo is good, but yeah it is semi-crackpot to assume no change or adaptation between the last major ice-age and now. Still people on paleo go from eating heavily processed food with crazy levels of MSG and other sodium products and heavy refinement and filler to eating a more balanced meal and getting the vitamines and minerals

a diet is a …
a diet is a consisten way odf eating so Paleo is a diet, As an EMT I’d expect that much knowledge. If a kid eats twinkies and cheeze-its all day long that is his diet, by definition. I know many people in crossfit on paleo. Many still get sick as often as those around them, they just fight it iff better with a healthy body.
