I have to make a lab for my investigative chemistry class, and i chose to do a lab on water purification. I’ve already chosen my techniques for purificaion, but how can I test the water for purity?
i guess you could check the pH.. or umm, check the water hardness..

The simplest method used is to measure the conductivity of the sample. Note that even when the conductivity is that of distilled or deionized water, it may not be pure if other things are potentially present. Some impurities can be a problem at concentrations where the conductivity can not be measured. Other techniques are also used such as IR, UV, or ICP. For most water the conductivity is enough.
